Haughton Grey Horse signed
off the season in style by bagging the Technocopy Cup after pipping Allstars 4-3 in an action packed
encounter at Blackwell Meadows.
John Nimmo,
Justin Rawlinson and Cristian Holiday all netted as Grey Horse looked to be
galloping away. However, Michael Richardson pulled one back before Holliday saw
read. Allstars made the numerical advantage count and Richardson completed his hat-trick to draw
his side level.
The DSIL Cup
Finals have proved tough to call this year and this final also had a late
twist. With extra-time looking likely, up popped Captain Jamie Bowman to head
home the winner with only mins to go.
After loosing to
their ‘noisy neighbors’ in the inaugural Charity Cup at the start of the
Campaign, the win will be extra sweet for Ronnie Coleman’s side who can rightly
claim bragging rights as DSIL ‘Top Dogs’. It has been a record breaking season
for Grey Horse and it will be a brave man who bets against them in 2012/13.
The curtain
falls on the 2011/12 season as Railway
Institute welcome The Deacon to
the Hummersknott Arena in their rearranged fixture. Spectators are welcome,
kick off is 10.30am.
If you fancy
getting involved in the action next year, why not join the DSIL who are looking
for new teams for the 2012/13 season. For further information see the league’s
website, www.dsil.org.uk and contact the
League Secretary by phone or email.
